Rodent Proofing
Rat, Mouse and Squirrel Proofing
Rodent proofing is a vital part of a complete rodent control program. The objective is to close all present and potential openings which may serve as entries for rats, mice and squirrels. This means changing building details to prevent the rodents from entering. It is important however to ensure that we not to seal rodents indoors until baiting, trapping and removal is completed and then proofing can take place.
We begin with a thorough inspection of the premises, locating any openings larger than 5mm, openings where utilities enter, floor drains and sewer pipes, doors and windows and fascias, soffits and roof tiles, etc. All in all if there is an entry point we find it.
The materials then used for rodent proofing should be rodent resistant, such as sheet metal, heavy wire mesh, concrete, brick and mortar. Steel wool is a good substitute for plugging holes when other materials are not available, but it should only be used as a temporary measure.
